Frequently Asked...
Here's some Answers to Questions we've had over the Years
- What do you mean by "production time"?
-
We are the manufacturer. Production time is
the time it takes us to add your order to our production schedule,
along with all the other orders, and make your brand. Orders
are manufactured in the order they are received.
-
- What does "Rush Service" mean?
-
Basically what this means is you pay to be moved
ahead of all the other orders in the production schedule.
Does it move other orders back a day? No. We allow
extra time in our day during which we make and replenish our
supplies of letters, boards, boxes, etc. Any extra
production is taken away from that time.
-
- My design looks very simple to me. Why does it cost
more than others?
-
The main time we hear this is when we've
received a design where lines cross over other lines. We
use 3/32" x 1/2" strip metal. We cannot cross pieces of
strip metal over one another as can be done with a pen or even
with wire. With strip metal, every time a line crosses
over another line it has to be cut and welded. This is
both labor and material intensive. And if the pieces are
too small we are not even able to do this. So the simple
answer to why things cost what they do is "labor and materials".
Send us your design, we will let you
know what can be hand made and what we must cut from 1 piece of
metal.
-
- Can you put a note in my box saying.........?
-
No, I'm sorry we can't. Why?
Because your note saying you want a note does not appear as an
item on your order form. You can, however, add a
Gift Insert Card for 25 cents and
it will appear on the order form. If you forget to add
it along with your order, you can go to our website and do so
without being charged additional shipping. If you do
this, please drop us an email and tell us which order to
include it with.
-
- What do you mean by "fire and smoke kissed"?
-
Due to the beauty of hand fire branding and
the nature of wood and leather, you will see little
differences and inconsistencies in the branded impressions.
The branding iron is heated very hot, the wood is branded
and flame and smoke is produced during this process.
You might see little wisps of soot where the branding smoke
has swirled over the wood surface; or darkened and charred
spots around the branded area where there was heat transfer
from the brand; or bits of crystallized sap on wood from the
fire toasting we use to bring up the wood grain. All
of this, although random in nature, is part of our
intentional creation of authentic hand fire branding.
